NFL training camps are already starting to open. So what five additions stand out for the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason?

It’s been a couple of down years for a team that was getting used to reaching the playoffs on a yearly basis. Of course, getting to the postseason and winning have been two totally different stories for the Cincinnati Bengals. The club hasn’t prevailed in the playoffs since 1990, the longest-such drought in the NFL.

After winning the AFC North in 2015 with a 12-4 mark, the team is a combined 13-18-1 the past two seasons. A year ago, Marvin Lewis’ team opened 0-3 but did win seven of its final 13 games. That includes victories over the Detroit Lions (Week 16) and Baltimore Ravens (Week 17) that knocked both clubs out of the postseason picture.

Per usual, the Bengals were not very busy during free agency but did make one very substantial trade. But they did come up with their share of draft choices. They divided their 11 selections pretty equally on offense (5) and defense (6). This has been a franchise that has always relied more on its scouting system than bringing in veterans from other teams.

So what five additions did this club make this offseason that will prove to be their best? And is this team capable of getting back in the AFC North race once again?
