2. Jamar Taylor, CB (from Cleveland Browns)

He is one of the better kept secrets in the league when it comes to the cornerback position. So when the Arizona Cardinals managed to swing a trade for cornerback Jamar Taylor, it was an unsung move that could wind up paying very big dividends for Steve Wilks’ club. In recent seasons, the Arizona defense has been a pretty formidable unit. But it is also now under the command of new coordinator Al Holcomb as James Bettcher is now running Pat Shurmur’s defense with the New York Giants.

As for Taylor, he has had stints would both the Miami Dolphins and the Cleveland Browns. The ladder sent him to the desert a few months ago for a sixth-round draft choice in 2020. Taylor finished 2017 with 62 tackles and 10 passes defensed and but managed zero interceptions. He joins a secondary that will be minus versatile Tyrann Mathieu and cornerback/special teams’ standout Justin Bethel — now with the Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons, respectively. And veteran Tramon Williams, who led the team with 12 passes defensed in 2017, moved on as well.

Taylor figures to pair with perennial Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson to give the Cards quite the 1-2 punch at the cornerback spot. The Cardinals also signed free agent corner Bene’ Benwikere (Dallas Cowboys) but it’s the former Browns’ defender that could make a big difference here.
