Arizona Cardinals: Top 5 offseason additions, post 2018 NFL Draft
1. Josh Rosen, QB (UCLA)
Talk about an overhaul of extraordinary magnitude? A season ago, the Arizona Cardinals utilized three different starters at quarterback: Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton and Blaine Gabbert. They also wound up signing Matt Barkley. So by the time free agency rolled around this year the latter three were available on the open market. Meanwhile, Palmer had already decided to call it quits following a very highly productive career.
So Arizona Cardinals’ general manager Steve Keim underwent the task of rebuilding this part of his football team. He went out in free agency and signed veterans Sam Bradford (Minnesota Vikings) and Mike Glennon (Chicago Bears). But it was in the first round of April’s draft that the club wound up picking up a player who could wind up being their starting quarterback sooner than later.
UCLA’s Josh Rosen was selected with the 10th overall pick thanks to a move by time to move up in the first round. Despite some early rumblings when it came to a few teams passing him over in the first round, the former Bruins’ field general appears to be quite focused.
“I’m very self-motivated,” said Rosen to Lisa Matthews of AZCardinals.com (via Jess Root of CardsWire). “That stuff isn’t motivation. That’s just something I’ll remember when we’re beating them for years to come, and I’ll just remind them. But I don’t need any extra external motivation. I’m very competitive and inspired person, regardless of the activity.”

The bottom line is that Palmer, Stanton and Gabbert combined for 21 touchdown passes and 20 turnovers this past season. Bradford appears to be the starter for Wilks’ team for now. But a lot can happen over the next two months.
