Tony Romo’s bold prediction puts the Jacksonville Jaguars in their first Super Bowl appearance

The magical postseason run, by the Jacksonville Jaguars, has gotten the attention of many people. The Jaguars made their third AFC Championship game since the franchise began in 1995. They fell short of the Super Bowl but are contenders.

Jacksonville is one of four teams that have never appeared in the Super Bowl. The Jaguars have made the playoffs seven times. Most of all, their playoff record is 7-7 and have a losing record 165-203 throughout all twenty four seasons.

Last season, Doug Marrone guided Jacksonville from pretenders into contenders. Only Jaguars fans believed that winning was a possibility due to the AFC South division being down. Jacksonville has quietly built a Super Bowl contender and Tony Romo noticed.

Romo appeared on NFL Network recently. He was asked to make a prediction on the upcoming Super Bowl in February. Sean Wagner-McGough of CBSSports.com reported on Romo’s prediction:

"“Oh, if I had to pick right now?” he said. “It’s pretty early. The thing about the NFL is things change pretty fast. Injuries happen. A lot of stuff happens. If I was picking right now, I’d probably go with … I’d probably go with Green Bay vs. Jacksonville. I think that would be just a tentative rough guess here in the summer months.”"

Let’s hope that Romo is correct in his prediction. After all, the Jaguars defense is an elite unit. Blake Bortles silenced, some of his critics, with his performances throughout the playoffs.

The Jaguars are headed in the right direction. Dave Caldwell is the architect of the talent laden roster. Tom Coughlin has definitely transformed the culture from lovable losers to fierce contenders.

Remember, to play in the Super Bowl, defeating New England is high priority. Five points separated Jacksonville and playing for the coveted Lombardi Trophy last season. Expectations are higher than ever but the blueprint is there to finally grasp the Championship. It’s going to be fun as the season plays out.
