Quincy Enunwa an be an impact player in 2018 for the New York Jets, even though he’s coming off an injury.

2017 was a lost season for New York Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa. He had neck issues in camp that required surgery, and he missed the entire season.

He’s back, though, and he’s looking to make a difference, especially with a franchise quarterback in the fold.

What kind of difference can Enunwa make on the 2018 Jets? Let’s explore.

2017 Season Recap

2017 was one to forget for Enunwa, not because of poor play, but because he lacked the most important ability in sports — availability. He was on injured reserved and didn’t play a single snap. He looks to rebound from that injury this year and improve on his numbers from 2016.

2018 Training Camp Forecast

If the Jets want to use Enunwa in the slot like many fans and media expect him to, he’s going to have to hit the jug machine a lot in camp. He needs to be a more reliable receiver for Sam Darnold if he’s going to be the slot receiver.

When we last saw Enunwa, according to Pro Football Focus, he had 36 receptions, 488 yards, and three touchdowns from the slot in 2016. That’s not bad, but looking deeper he has one serious issue to work on. He led the league in drops (11) and drop percentage (23.4 percent) from the slot, and that must get better.

2018 Season Outlook

In 2016, Enunwa was second on the team in targets. So he can get open. If not for the 11 drops he had in the slot, he likely would’ve had his first 1,000 yard season. If he can fix the issue with drops, he’ll become just as reliable as the rest of his teammate in the wide receiver room. He will also have a breakout season with 1,000-plus yards and close to double-digit touchdowns.
