The New York Jets quarterback-turned wide receiver Terrelle Pryor has a lot to prove in 2018 to make the Jets roster with a deep receiver group ahead of him.

Was 2016 a fluke for Terrelle Pryor? Many fans of the New York Jets believe so. So they peg him as the fourth-best receiver on the team currently. If his one-year, $4.5 million deal says anything, the Jets want him to prove himself too.

In fact, each of the Jets top four receivers are on the ends of their current contracts — with Robby Anderson being the only restricted free agent of the bunch. Pryor is also the oldest of the group. So, if he wants to stay in New York for 2019, he’ll have to do the most.

Let’s take a look at what Pryor has to do to prove he’s worth keeping.

2017 Season Recap

After a promising 2016 season in which Pryor caught 77 balls for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns, Pryor’s production took a dip. It was mostly due to injury. He only played in nine games (two starts) with 20 catches for 240 yards and a touchdown. It was a huge disappointment he hopes to bounce back from in 2018.

2018 Training Camp Forecast

During OTAs, Pryor was seen in a walking boot still nursing that injury, and he didn’t participate. Pryor hopes he’s ready for camp and wants to be a big part of the Jets future, according to USA Today.

"“I’d like to finish my career here. So, I want to come out and have a great year and I believe I will. If I stay healthy, God-willing and I know I will, I’m not even going to talk about that anymore.”"

It’s all up to how healthy he is. If he’s 100 percent, it’s his time in camp.

2018 Season Outlook

Just like the camp forecast, this is up to health. If he’s healthy and makes the roster, he has the chance to be the team’s best receiver. He’s the only one with a 1,000-yard season under his belt, and that’s despite starting his career as a quarterback

If healthy , he will provide the Jets with a third deep threat — to go along with Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa. For the Jets, a healthy Pryor just means a more dangerous receiver core and more help for a young franchise quarterback.
