San Francisco 49ers: 5 Players fighting for their futures in 2018
Few spots on the San Francisco 49ers roster are guaranteed. That notion is quite apparent to these five players fighting for their future.
Many players in the NFL are in a constant battle to stay on their respective roster. This can be said about the San Francisco 49ers and most of their players fighting for spots. Of course, some players are secure like Jimmy Garoppolo and Joe Staley. However, there are plenty of talented players that may find their time in San Francisco come to an end.
Some of these guys are in this position because of a tough break with injuries. Others are here because of underwhelming play over the years. And some are here because of being outshined by others in their respective position groups. In the end, they all have one thing in common, and that’s trying to keep their NFL dream alive.
Let’s look at the five players on the list who need to impress the coaches the most.
Honorable Mention: Reuben Foster
Yes, he is the face of the 49ers defense and commands the inside linebacker position. However, if his off-field antics come back in any way Foster can find himself out of the West side of the Bay Area.
The University of Alabama product is already serving a two-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. He’s previously been arrested two times during the offseason. The leash on the defensive star is short, to say the least.
He’s only an honorable mention because he will be entering his second season and because of his talent. But if he can’t change his actions away from the field, then he’s likely out of a job in San Francisco.
