Aldrick Robinson

Robinson has been a disciple of the Shanahan system since their time together with the Redskins. He was with him during the Falcons’ 2016 Super Bowl run and last season in San Francisco.

But the familiarity with him and the head coach isn’t going to keep him on the roster for much longer. Especially when looking at the players that are already in the receiving core. It’s hard to pinpoint what his role would be if he does make it.

Let’s look at the pecking order right now:

  • Pierre Garçon is the savvy possession receiver and veteran.
  • Marquise Goodwin is a deep threat that stretches the field.
  • Trent Taylor is the scrappy, small slot receiver that can return punts.
  • Dante Pettis is a deep threat and a return specialist.

Couple these guys that are locks for significant playing time with the other players getting considerable hype like Kendrick Bourne and Richie James and Aldrick Robinson is on the outside looking in.

He still has the advantage of his knowledge of Shanahan’s system. But there might be too many cooks in this group that keep him from being a part of the 49ers.
