What should we expect going into the Oakland Raiders 2018 season? How many wins will they rack up? Will quarterback Derek Carr throw for 4,000 yards?

It’s a new NFL year, which means fresh expectations. Before players take a snap, analysts attempt to predict how the 2018 season pans out. Early predictions don’t look pretty for the Oakland Raiders.

You’d have to go through an extensive search to find playoff projections for the Silver and Black. Two notable outlets view the Raiders as a sub-.500 squad, putting a damper on head coach Jon Gruden’s return to the sidelines.

Betonline.ag isn’t high on running back Marshawn Lynch going into his age-32 campaign. The over-under lines set for quarterback Derek Carr also look modest as he looks to rebound from a difficult fourth term.

At this point, it’s all prognostication, but it’s also a time to dig deep beyond the surface to find the root of concerns and reasons for optimism.

Generally speaking, we’re due for some surprises every year. Last season, the shock came unpleasantly for the Raiders, dropping from a 12-4 team escaping futility to a squad scrapping at the bottom of the AFC at 6-10.

We’ll dissect five over-under expectations for the offense, defense, individuals and the team’s outlook as a whole for the 2018 season.
