New England Patriots: Predicting 5 most surprising roster cuts of 2018

With the start of New England Patriots 2018 training camp just days away, these five players appear headed for a surprisingly sour end to their times in Boston.

Unfortunately, NFL teams aren’t allowed to keep all 90 players they carry into training camp on the final roster. I’m sure the New England Patriots would love having that type of depth, but that just isn’t how it works.

No, instead, nearly all of those 90 players are subjected to the grueling gladiator games that we refer to as “battling for a roster spot.” As we all know, those games can have unexpected victims each year, leaving fans wondering what the hell just happened. Well, I’m guessing it won’t be any different for the Patriots in 2018.

And that’s why we’re here right now, preparing to chat about five Patriots players who I’m predicting will surprisingly be handed their walking papers in the next month or so. I know it can be a touchy subject for some, but it’s the reality of life in the NFL. For a full roster to be set, the guillotine must drop on the hopes and dreams of many.

If there’s anyone who will make sure the process stays interesting, though, it’s Bill Belichick and the Patriots. Every offseason, we see this franchise make at least a few shocking decisions come September. Expect more of the same this year.

With that in mind, let’s take a gander at the five players I’m predicting will be surprise cuts for the Patriots. I may be off on at least a couple of them, but you can bet your bottom dollar every one is far from safe at this point in the process.
