Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson’s time to take over looking closer
Ravens plan to use Lamar Jackson dynamic ability early
There have been early reports coming out of the Ravens camp praising Lamar Jackson’s big play ability. In fact, Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg praised Jackson’s ability to pick up the offense so quickly. E
SPN’s Jamison Hensley reported the news via Twitter.
Furthermore, his teammates have raved about him since the start of OTAs. Some players have compared the rookie to a “young Michael Vick.” C.J Mosley expressed how difficult it is to defend against Jackson, via CBS Sports
"“It’s amazing to watch. When you’re defending him, you just have to act like you’re tagging off — you don’t want to be on the highlight reel.”"
Because of his big-play ability, the Ravens have been working on ways to get Jackson on the field early and often. Jason La Canfora appeared on NFL Radio’s Movin’ the Chains and talked about how he expects Jackson to be involved in the Ravens gameplan come Week 1. He expected the Ravens to utilize Jackson’s speed in run-pass options with he and Flacco sharing the field.
He echoed those statements in an article on CBSSports.com, as La Canfora explained:
"There were times when Jackson pitched the ball to Griffin on an end around and times where Flacco and Jackson shared the same backfield. Those plays and formations will be the earliest conduit to Jackson taking the field in games that actually count in the standings."
It’s clear the Ravens recognize the talent they have and want to utilize it right away.
