New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles is not one to mince words, and he’s not panicking about Sam Darnold not being at camp, and neither should Jets fans.

Time is a precious commodity. It’s the one thing that we lose that we will never get back. That said, New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles isn’t that worried about the time that Sam Darnold is missing in camp, and frankly, neither should we.

There’s already a lot of vitriol coming from fans toward Darnold. Fans are calling him greedy and selfish, and some think he should just give in, because others have. Some fans are mad at the Jets for simply not getting this done.

In the end, he’s missing a little time, but there are two takes on this, both similar. Peter King of NBC Sports said it best in an interview with Eric Allen that the Jets posted on their official twitter account.

Todd Bowles also had his own take, according to Randy Lange of newyorkjets.com.

"“As a coach, we don’t coach the guys that aren’t here. When Sam gets here, we’ll get him caught up. Until then, we’ll go as planned.”"

Outside the team, there seems to be a lot of hysteria. People feel they need to take a side. That’s their prerogative, but it’s time to take the advice of an old favorite character on TV. As Bart Simpson says, “Don’t have a cow, man.”

Let’s take the lead of the Jets coach and not panic. There’s plenty to talk about at Jets camp among those that are there. For instance, two key injured Jets participated in the first practice — Quincy Enunwa and Terrelle Pryor.

If he holdout gets to a week or more, then panic and hysteria can set in. For now, let’s not panic, and let the negotiation play out.
