2019 NFL Mock Draft: Defensive line rules at start of training camp

12. Washington Redskins: Deandre Baker, Georgia, CB
The Washington Redskins made a high-profile trade this offseason when they added quarterback Alex Smith from the Kansas City Chiefs. The veteran quarterback was the key part in their big trade, but another player who was involved could have a larger impact on their season.
Smith isn’t a drastic change from what they had in Kirk Cousins, and it could even be argued that Cousins was a better player. Where they’ll really be worse though is at defensive back.
In that trade, the Chiefs somehow managed to get Washington to give up Kendall Fuller. An underrated corner, his departure left some teammates a little upset as he’s great at what he does.
Without a great replacement for him in 2018, the Redskins have to wait until the 2019 NFL Draft to fill the hole. They do that with Deandre Baker, a blazing fast corner from the University of Georgia.
He’s slightly undersized, but his speed allows him to keep up with any wide receiver and he plays against elite talent in the SEC. He could develop into a true shut down corner and Washington would look great with him and Josh Norman in their starting lineup.
