2. Miami Dolphins: Drew Lock, Missouri, QB

This season, there may not be a clear-cut No. 1 quarterback in the NFL Draft. Then again, at this point there never really is. Last year at this time, it seemed all but certain that Sam Darnold out of USC would be the guy getting selected first. That changed late in the game as Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield rose through the ranks and became the first player taken.

There could be a similar scenario this season where someone creeps up the boards, but as of now, it seems like some of the names to watch include Drew Lock from Missouri, Justin Herbert from Oregon and Jarrett Stidham from Auburn. In the end, we go with Lock here as the first to hear his name and it happens to be the Miami Dolphins turning that card in for this NFL Mock Draft.

Obviously, the team hopes this isn’t the case as they’re still holding out hope that head coach Adam Gase and quarterback Ryan Tannehill can make it work. That likely doesn’t happen as Gase has struggled to win the team over and is trying the fear of cutting everyone as a motivation factor. That never works and will have potentially fatal effects.

As for Tannehill, he’s been wildly inconsistent his whole career and struggles with health. It’s time to turn the page and Lock gives them a great prospect to turn to in 2019 and beyond.
