7. Chicago Bears: Clelin Ferrell, Clemson, EDGE

This offseason, the Chicago Bears went out of their way to get some weapons for new quarterback Mitch Trubisky. In free agency, they picked up wide receivers Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel. They didn’t stop there as tight end Trey Burton was also brought in.

With all these additions around them, new head coach Matt Nagy is ready to get things going on this side of the ball. This doesn’t mean they ignored the defensive side of the ball though.

In the draft that added one of the better linebacker prospects in Roquan Smith out of the University of Georgia. He joins another Bulldog in Leonard Floyd, who happens to be their primary pass rusher. He hasn’t lived up to his draft status though, so the Bears decide to get him some help here.

Their selection is Clemson edge rusher Clelin Ferrell. He has the length on the edges that they loved in Floyd but has much more bulk as a player who can hold up against the run. He had 66 tackles and 9.5 sacks in 2017 and if he plays with similar success this year he could easily land this high in the draft.
