The Los Angeles Rams offense has plenty to be excited about, including new weapon Brandin Cooks. Their tight ends will serve a major purpose though.

The Los Angeles Rams offense broke out in a major way last season. That was due to quite a few factors, including the emergence of quarterback Jared Goff. Along with him, Robert Woods stepped up at receiver, while Cooper Kupp had a strong rookie year.

Meanwhile, Todd Gurley is a clear superstar at running back, and the offensive line was superb as well. Then the Rams went and added star receiver Brandin Cooks this offseason as well. All this appears to leave little else needed from the offense. There’s one glaring problem, however, and it’s something that can be helped by the tight end position.

Last season, one of the main red zone targets for Goff and the Rams was Sammy Watkins. Now with the Chiefs, the Rams will have to find someone to fill that spot. At the tight end position, there are two extremely viable options in Gerald Everett and Tyler Higbee.

Higbee’s numbers increased decently last season after a rookie year that saw him collect just 85 yards on 11 receptions. The second-year pro reeled in 25 passes for 295 yards and one touchdown. Everett, on the other hand, was a rookie last season and had 16 receptions for 244 yards and two touchdowns.

The two didn’t combine for that product of a season when it comes to pass-catching tight ends. They are both however continuing to improve. Everett is more of the offensive threat, but both have the potential to be lethal targets in the red zone.

Everett is an athletic freak and comes in at 6-3, 245 pounds. Meanwhile, Higbee is just a massive target at 6-6, 257 pounds with plus-athleticism for the position. Goff will need a new red zone target and these two are perfect for the role. In fact, both are poised to have excellent years in general.

Higbee’s blocking abilities make him a must-have on the field. The fact that he can be a weapon in the passing game just makes him even more important. Everett, meanwhile, was drafted with the potential to be one of the more dangerous receiving tight ends in the NFL. He showed that he’s got the abilities to be just that.

The Los Angeles Rams have a lot of weapons in their offense. Due to that, Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett might be getting overlooked. Their contributions this year could be massive though, especially in the red zone.
