Dallas Cowboys: Dez Bryant would be smart to join Steelers

The Dallas Cowboys have washed their hands of wide receiver Dez Bryant. But he could find redemption with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is still looking for a home. He recently visited the Cleveland Browns.

While there seems to be mutual interest, a rival AFC North team is looking to enter the Dez Sweepstakes.

Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown tweeted on Sunday that Bryant should join him with the Steelers.

To be fair, this is Brown showing the interest and not the Steelers organization. But Brown could hold some sway in the organization that is looking to fight off the Baltimore Ravens, the rebuilding Cincinnati Bengals and the improved on paper Cleveland Browns.

A marriage between Bryant and the Steelers may be exactly what Dez needs to get his groove back. The Steelers already have a high powered offense with Brown, Ben Roethlisberger and Le’Veon Bell. Their receiver room is already loaded with Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster.

But best for Bryant would be Steeler’s coach Mike Tomlin. Tomlin is a players’ coach who will give his stars plenty of breathing room. Bryant will be able to enter the Steelers locker room and be himself. The Steelers have plenty of experience with taking on players with a bad reputation and making it work.

In terms of playing time and balls thrown his way, Bryant may need to prove that he has matured as a person and player. He will need to show that he can play his role on the team. With Antonio Brown, possibly the league’s best wide receiver, leading the team, Byrant will have to be a secondary or tertiary role in the offense.

Bryant needs to put to rest the reputation that he is not a team player, the Steelers may be the best place for him to make that happen. In the process, he may be able to make the playoffs or win a Super Bowl. If the opportunity arises, Dez should jump at it.
