Jacksonville Jaguars: Bortles proving he was worth keeping around

Prior to the 2017 season, there were some questions surrounding Blake Bortles, and whether he was the right answer for the Jacksonville Jaguars at quarterback since he had been given every opportunity in the world to prove himself, only to be inconsistent for the most part. After doing just enough on offense last year to help the Jaguars reach the AFC Championship, the organization decided he was worth keeping around by rewarding the former first-round pick with a three-year extension in the offseason.

Now, the question becomes whether Jacksonville made the right choice by deciding to keep Bortles around since there is a ton of uncertainty at the wide receiver position since Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns are no longer around.

At least when it comes to running back, Bortles should benefit from Leonard Fournette elevating his game to a new level after making a serious impact as a rookie, proving the former LSU star can in fact be successful in the NFL. Falling just shy of a trip to the Super Bowl has most likely been on the minds of the Jaguars ever since the end of January, and while the defense is expected to be a top unit once again, how far this team goes could fall on the shoulders of Bortles.
