Miami Dolphins: Tannehill avoiding another injury

After being a surprise contender in the AFC during the 2016 season, the Miami Dolphins were hoping to pick up where they left off last year, which unfortunately wasn’t the case after they won just six games. Losing Ryan Tannehill early on for the season was a crushing blow for the Dolphins at the time, and even though convincing Jay Cutler to come out of retirement seemed like a good idea at the time, this backfired in a big way.

Cutler’s inconsistent play was beyond frustrating at times since expectations were so high for Miami, but at least the team was smart enough to move on from the veteran instead of giving him one final chance to prove himself worthy. As for whether allowing Tannehill to prove himself will end up being the correct answer for the Dolphins, only time will tell since nobody really knows what to expect from the former first-round pick.

Maybe if Miami is lucky, Tannehill will be playing with an extra chip on his shoulder since it’s difficult to imagine him receiving another opportunity to start if things don’t go well in 2018. Landry may no longer be in the picture, but at least the Dolphins still have plenty of talent to help take some of that pressure off Tannehill for the regular season, assuming he stays healthy enough.
