New Orleans Saints: Avoiding one-year wonder label

All hope seemed lost for the New Orleans Saints early on in last season when the team lost each of their first two games, making it seem like they were heading towards another year of finishing below .500 while missing out on the playoffs. Instead, the Saints quickly turned things around by going on win their next eight games, and as a result would go on to win the NFC South title.

Losing the way they did in the Divisional Round to Minnesota was unimaginable, but at least for New Orleans, this team is talented enough where they should be able to remain one of the top contenders in the conference. Of course, that’s always easier said than done since unlike last year, the Saints face the pressure of avoiding the one-hit wonder label, and make another deep run at the playoffs.

Defense was one of the biggest differences from previous years for New Orleans since the unit always ranked near the bottom of the league, which was frustrating for Drew Brees and the offense to see. Now that the Saints’ defense is coming through on their end, this makes the team that much more dangerous in the NFC, and it will be exciting to see how they look in 2018 after all of their success from last season.
