Cincinnati Bengals: End two-year playoff drought

Remember a few years ago when the Cincinnati Bengals were considered one of the top contenders in the AFC, but always lost right away in the playoffs? After failing to make the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, Bengals fans were excited when they heard the news that Lewis would no longer be part of the picture heading into 2018, which obviously ended up being wrong.

Instead of being fired like most head coaches would in his position, Cincinnati rewarded Lewis with another extension he clearly didn’t deserve. And as a result, the pressure will continue to be high for the Bengals looking to not only end their two-year playoff drought, but also help Lewis finally earn that first postseason win (0-7 career record).

Sad thing is, even if Cincinnati fails to reach the playoffs for a third year in a row, chances are the organization will still keep Lewis around for 2019. When looking at how many coaches have been let go in shorter periods of time, seeing the Bengals continue to keep Lewis around after all these years is truly amazing, and one can only imagine what it would actually take for him to lose his job.
