Chicago Bears: 3 Things to watch for in Hall of Fame Game 2018
1. Kevin White
Since being selected with the seventh-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, things have gone nothing but poorly for wide receiver Kevin White. He’s been placed on injured reserve in all three seasons that he’s been in the professional ranks. Even worse for his prospects, he’s only played in five NFL games to this point in his career.
It’s hard to not still be intrigued by what White could potentially bring to the table if not on IR. With great size (6-2.5, 215 pounds) to go with blazing speed and quickness (4.35-second 40-yard dash), White has the traits that you’d want if you were building a prototypical No. 1 wide receiver. Of course, he simply hasn’t been healthy enough to show that or ever to try and develop his skills.
Throughout Bears training camp leading up to the Hall of Fame Game though, White has been impressing as the buzz about him grows. Again, the buzz and potential of White has never really been in question, but it’s at least interesting to see it still growing as he’s currently healthy and able to show off what he’s capable of.
Trubisky might not see much of the field on Thursday night, but the Bears still have Chase Daniel, who is a more than capable backup quarterback. That’s good news for White, who has more than a little to prove. Chances are that he’s going to make the 53-man roster regardless, but he could possibly carve out a role for himself in the offense with a strong preseason, which starts with his play on Thursday night.
