Blake Bortles is having a very quiet Jacksonville Jaguars training camp this year. Perhaps Bortles has turned the corner and is becoming a reliable starter.

There is not a quarterback controversy in the Jacksonville Jaguars 2018 training camp. Blake Bortles played very well in 2017. Hopefully, he has turned the corner in his career. Last year, there was much discussion for Jacksonville to cut Bortles. All he did was lead the Jaguars to the AFC Championship Game. Frankly, they should have won that game.

Bortles will continue to catch criticism, from the usual suspects. Most of all, naming Doug Marrone as head coach could be the point where Bortles confidence level changed. Remember the infamous exchange with Allen Robinson in last year’s camp?

Apparently, Marrone and the staff put Bortles in places to succeed. The power rushing attack relieved some pressure from Bortles to make the perfect read and play. There were times Bortles ran upfield instead of throwing into tight windows.

Currently, Bortles is having a quiet camp. In other words, nobody is openly ripping his daily performance. Austin Seferian-Jenkins was asked about Bortles.

Cole Pepper of news4jax.com reported the following comments from the tight end:

"“He’s going to do what it takes to win,” Seferian-Jenkins said. “That’s what you want in a quarterback: A guy that wants to win and does the job every single day, and if he messes up, he’s gonna go out there and sling it again. … I think he is a hell of a quarterback.”"

The news is getting better. Mike Kaye of firstcoastnews.com reported the following concerning day four of training camp:

"It was an accurate day for quarterback Blake Bortles…. Bortles has produced an impressive camp so far, as he has been very consistent with his overall accuracy."

A winning season does wonders for a quarterback. Bortles is becoming the quarterback that Jacksonville saw, when he was drafted in 2014. Expect him to continue to improve his play throughout the season. However the best news may be, that it’s a very quiet training camp for him.
