2. Offensive line depth is a bit concerning

There are hopes that the Chicago Bears offensive line can be better than it has been in recent years. Not only does the arrival of head coach Matt Nagy bolster those hopes, but so too does the personnel that they have up front. Kyle Long is healthy, rookie James Daniels is a promising player and Cody Whitehair is also a stud when healthy. That health is key for this unit though as the backups looked abysmal on Thursday night.

Over the course of the game, the Bears offensive line allowed four sacks among six tackles for loss. What’s more, according to Pro Football Focus Elite, they also allowed a total of 19 pressures on the night. Yes, this came against a Ravens team that is exceedingly deep in terms of their defense. However, that type of performance has to make Chicago fans cross their fingers that the starters up front on offense can maintain a clean bill of health in 2018.

1. Running back depth, however, is not

With the arrival of Nagy, there is palpable excitement in Chicago about what their running backs are going to be able to do. The combination of Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen has the potential to be a force that defenses can only hope to contend with. As it turns out, the Bears are even deeper than just that as Benny Cunningham showed he has plenty left int the tank on Thursday night.

As the Bears offensive line was struggling with a deep Baltimore defensive front, Cunningham paid them no mind when he got the rock, breaking one of only six carries for a 30-yard run, much of which came after contact as he broke free. While he likely won’t see a great deal of carries behind Howard and Cohen, the Bears can rest peacefully knowing they have serviceable depth backing up their two big-name players at the position.
