4. Daryl Worley, Cornerback

It was a crazy offseason for defensive back Daryl Worley. He was traded from the Carolina Panthers to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for wide receiver Torrey Smith. The Eagles believed he would help strengthen their secondary.

Worley was later arrested and reportedly tasered by police — according to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafalo. There was a gun on the scene in what appeared to be a weird story. Philly subsequently released him, but the Raiders felt he deserved a second chance and just over a week later he found himself a new home.

So far, he’s making the most out of his chances as Raiders beat writer Michael Gehlken pointed out when he quoted Jon Gruden as saying he’s moving up the chart.

Worley could wind up being a free agency steal for the Raiders after they took the gamble. He was a third-round pick out West Virginia and offers something that modern defensive coordinators love — big size.

Listed at 6-1 and 204 pounds, Worley is a physical corner who can not only run with most receivers, but is also a strong defender against the run. Oakland could very well have him in the starting lineup before too long.
