One week into 2018 training camp and these five players are beginning to stick out for the Washington Redskins heading into a new campaign.
Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden is entering his fifth season as head coach and it’s a critical year for him and the team. With so many players returning from injury and a new quarterback in Alex Smith, there were many questions surrounding the Redskins before training camp began last week.
Now that camp is a week old and the injury report looks pretty good thus far, things are beginning to gain clarity. Trent Williams, Chris Thompson, Jonathan Allen and Jordan Reed, four of Washington’s biggest stars, are either full-go this camp or will be ready to play in Week 1.
Reed, Williams and Thompson are participating but remained somewhat limited due to the team taking extreme measures to ensure they’re ready for the season. All three players maintain they could play this week if the season started on Sunday. Allen is a full participant in all activities.
With Washington set to regain all of its top offensive playmakers for Week 1, Gruden is obviously excited about Smith and his ever-expanding playbook. Right tackle Morgan Moses recently spoke with the media and talked about how much the playbook has grown with the insertion of Smith at quarterback.
Quote of the day: RT Morgan Moses on QB Alex Smith: "You can just tell by the three days, four days we’ve been on the field, how much the playbook has grown. He’s just not a thrower, he can run, you have to respect his run, we got a little bit of option... https://t.co/YQpn2jjawY
