WR Isaiah Ford

Isaiah Ford has undoubtedly been a standout in training camp thus far. However, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen him flash. The 2017 seventh-round pick was a standout last season as well. Unfortunately his season ended just about this time last year due to a knee injury. He continued to shine this spring and is now looking a potential contributor in 2018.

All we have seen from him after the first week of camp is him consistently beating defensive backs and everyone has taken notice. He has been the go-to guy on the second team and I fully expect him to get some run with the first team. His current level of play could very well push Leonte Carroo, who the team invested heavily in during the 2016 NFL Draft, not just out of the rotation but right out the door.

The only wide receivers ahead of him right now are DeVante Parker, Kenny Stills, Albert Wilson, Danny Amendola and maybe Jakeem Grant. And many would argue some of them aren’t ahead of him due to performance. As of now, it looks like he could be the man that opens up the season as Parker’s primary backup on the depth chart with Wilson behind Stills and Grant behind Amendola.

While Ford lacks the blazing speed many of the Dolphins’ wideouts possess, he has impressed with his route running and body control. His only true major flaw since being drafted out of Virginia Tech is his ability to stay healthy. After missing 2017, we’ve already seen him miss time with a shoulder injury in training camp. If he can stay on the field Miami may have found a true diamond in the rough this summer. He has all the makings of a preseason star.
