New York Jets: Game-by-game predictions for 2018
Week 12: vs. New England Patriots
Since 2000 (Bill Belichick’s first season in New England) the Patriots are 11-4 against teams coming off a Bye. Week 11 was the Jets Bye Week. However, one of those four losses was to the New York Jets.
When an NFL franchise is built, they’re typically built to be able to beat their division opponents primarily and the rest of their schedule is secondary.
With the return of Quincy Enunwa and the addition of Terrelle Pryor, and already having Robby Anderson and Jermaine Kearse, it’s clear how they want to attack.
The Patriots coverage unit got torched against Jacksonville and Philadelphia. According to Pro Football Focus (Subscription Required), their overall grades in those games were 56.4 (Jacksonville) and 64.7 (Philadelphia). They also allowed 67.9 percent of all passes to be caught in the entire postseason.
The Jets will test them early and often, and as a result of having four players who are quality receivers in the NFL, the Patriots won’t have an answer. It won’t be a blowout by score, but it will be Sam Darnold’s coming out party against a quality opponent.
Final Score
Patriots 27, Jets 31
