Week 13: at Tennessee Titans

The Jets ride a five-game winning streak into Nashville. In 2017, after an eight-year absence, the Titans made the playoffs. Mike Vrabel brings three Super Bowl rings to the Titans in his first year as head coach after seven years as an assistant coach at Ohio State and with the Houston Texans.

After two good seasons to start his career, Marcus Mariota struggled. Even though his completion percentage remained somewhat steady, the 2017 season saw fewer touchdowns, more interceptions, lower yards per attempt and completion, and his first sub-80 passer rating. Is that a sign of things to come? For this game it is.

The Jets are going to come ready to take the ball away and utilize a heavy blitz to do so. Mariota will make some good decisions and throw the ball away, but the Jets secondary will be on the lookout for some errant passes, and they will take the ball away twice in this game.

Despite having a decent rushing attack, the Jets run defense — which was ranked 11th in the NFL by Pro Football Focus (Subscription Required) — will stifle the Titans run game, including Mariota. The Jets will take advantage of Tennessee turnovers and good field position and run away with this game.

Final Score

Jets 27, Titans 10
