Week 3: at Cleveland Browns

The Browns are dead-set on Tyrod Taylor being the starting quarterback. If he is the starting quarterback when the Jets roll into town, expect the Jets defense to be licking their chops, especially the secondary.

If Taylor is the quarterback, the Jets can stack the box and dare them to try and beat them deep with Josh Gordon and Jarvis Landry. While those two can be dangerous in open field in one-on-one situations, Tyrod Taylor isn’t a threat to beat them deep consistently.

Taylor only completed 28.5 percent of his passes of 20-yards or more in 2017 for a total of 551 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions (passer rating of 71.5).

According to Pro Football Focus (Subscription Required), the Jets were the 11th best run defense in the NFL. So, with the additions of Henry Anderson, Foley Fatukasi, Nathan Shepherd, and Avery Williamson, they should be even better.

If they can contain Taylor, and stop him from beating them with his legs, they should be fine. This game will be a cakewalk for the Jets if Taylor is the starting quarterback. This is another game where the Jets won’t need Sam Darnold to be Superman. He’ll be just fine doing the little things to keep them in the game.

Final Score

Jets 24, Browns 10
