New York Jets: Game-by-game predictions for 2018
Week 8: at Chicago Bears
This will be the seventh all-time trip to Soldier Field, and while most of the trips were close, four out of the six the Jets went home with a loss. The last time they went to Chicago, the Bears and Jets traded big scoring quarters for the first three, and holding the Jets to a field goal in the fourth quarter was the difference in the game.
By this time, it might just be a battle of young quarterbacks. The Mitchell Turbisky era started for the Bears in Week 5 of 2017, and Sam Darnold is making his first trip to the famed Soldier Field. So, this game is going to be a battle of defense and which one blinks first.
The difference in this game will be a forced mistake by the Jets defense. It’s not necessarily that the Jets defense is better than the Bears, but that they will be the ones to force one extra mistake from their young opposing quarterback.
Trubisky will force the ball into coverage, and Trumaine Johnson will come down with an interception late in the fourth quarter. That turnover will set up the Jets for the final score of the low-scoring defensive struggle.
Final Score
Jets 17, Bears 14
