Denver Broncos: Running Back

Heading into the 2018 season, the Denver Broncos were ready to turn things over to Devontae Booker. A former fourth-round pick in 2016 out of Utah, the team has always been pretty high on his potential. As of yet, he hasn’t fully reached that potential though.

In 29 career games, Booker has just 911 yards on 253 rushes. That’s good for just 3.6 yards per rush, which is below the league average. He does, however, offer something of note in the passing game, catching 61 passes for 540 yards in that same time frame.

Booker may be who they hope takes the bulk of the carries, but there’s nothing guaranteed. Especially when you consider Denver brought in Royce Freeman with the No. 71 overall pick. Freeman is a complete bulldozer and is reportedly already turning heads for the Broncos.

In his four seasons at Oregon, he only missed 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns on the ground one season and finished with 5,621 yards and 60 touchdowns in four seasons. He’s the kind of back that only gets better the more he carries the ball and it’s not crazy to think he can’t completely unseat Booker and become the bell cow in Denver.
