New England Patriots: Running Back

Each and every season, there’s a question about who will be the running back for the New England Patriots. Entering the 2018 NFL Season though, we have our answer finally as they spent a first-round pick on Sony Michel. Or at least we think we do.

Whenever we all “know” what head coach Bill Belichick is doing, he proves us wrong. Even this season, it probably won’t be cut and dry. Yes, they let Dion Lewis walk in free agency and yes Michel is a day one pick. But the cupboard still is pretty deep here.

Not only do they still have James White, who the team loves, but Rex Burkhead and Mike Gillislee are there as well. Each of those players excelled in different aspects of the job, making them an incredibly deep team. But that’s not where it ends.

New England also signed former Cincinnati Bengals running back Jeremy Hill in free agency. His name doesn’t carry the same clout it once did, but this is a guy capable of carrying a full load for an NFL franchise.

Seeing who wins what roles and how it will all shake out is going to be another fun part of the Patriots camp.
