Fantasy Football Rankings: Raiders’ most tantalizing targets in 2018
1. WR Jordy Nelson
Current ADP: 104.3
If you have to draft a Raiders player this season, let it be Jordy Nelson.
Sure, he may be coming off his worst year in the league. Then again, he was catching passes from Brett Hundley, who clearly wasn’t ready to see his first taste of extended NFL action. His days of tearing it up for the Green Bay Packers are in the rear-view mirror, and he can no longer lean on Aaron Rodgers to make him look like a superstar.
Wait. My apologies. Nelson never needed Rodgers to look like a superstar. He just needed a competent quarterback, which Hundley clearly wasn’t in 2017. Luckily for him, Carr is more than capable of answering the call.
It’s my belief that Nelson will emerge as the Raiders’ go-to target in 2018. While he may not put up astronomical numbers (as that would’ve pushed Carr up this list), he should be plenty productive for the Raiders. There have already been numerous reports out of training camp suggesting he’s ready to shine bright this season.
Admittedly, I was fairly skeptical of the Nelson signing earlier this offseason. The more I think about it, though, he could be just the dependable pass catcher Carr needs to keep this offense running — even with Gruden at the controls.
Nelson may be getting up there in age, but he’s the Raiders’ best bet at a fantasy star in 2018. Luckily, considering his current ADP, he won’t be too crazy an investment to secure for your squad.
