Another option for the Packers could be unloading Clay Matthews. Once one of the premiere pass rushers in the league, Matthews has seen a dip in production over the past couple seasons. That being said, he’s still only 32 years-old with presumably a few years left in the tank.

More from Green Bay Packers

Jon Gruden has shown a willingness to sign older veterans this offseason, as well. The fact that Gruden may be more keen on coaching more-experienced players says a lot about his coaching style. After not coaching in the NFL for nearly a decade, Gruden may not gel well with the younger generation of players. Therefore, Matthews could be a nice fit.

That being said, because Matthews is four years older than Perry, the draft price for Green Bay rises from a 2019 first and third-rounder to a 2019 first and second-round pick. Again, the extra first-round pick gained from the Saints could prove extremely vital in a possible trade.

Like Mack, Matthews is also on the last year of his current deal, so either way the Packers and Raiders would need to pay a pass rusher at some point. The trade could make sense for both parties, as Green Bay’s pass rushing situation remains shaky at best. For the Raiders, Matthews wouldn’t command anywhere close to Mack’s demands for a new contract.
