Finally, the last option for Green Bay could be unloading a trio of draft picks. A 2019 first-rounder, 2019 fourth-rounder and 2020 first-rounder could be enough. Mack would be well-worth the investment, even if the Packers would need to sign him to a new, lucrative contract. After all, pass rushers like him don’t come around often.

For the Raiders, two first-round picks and a mid-rounder doesn’t sound so bad for a player on the last year of his deal. Of course, Oakland could always apply the franchise tag to Mack, similarly to what the Los Angeles Rams did to Aaron Donald, but we all know how that’s turning out at the moment.

Applying the franchise tag to Mack doesn’t guarantee that he’ll play, nor does it guarantee that he’ll even sign the agreement. For the Packers, a trade of this magnitude would certainly signal a long-term investment in Mack’s services. After all, teams don’t give away that type of draft capital for only one year of production.

All in all, the chances of the Packers trading for Mack, or any team for that matter, is slim to none. In all likelihood, Mack will either show up to practice a few days before the Raiders’ first game of the season, or Oakland will come to their senses and pay him what he’s worth. The Raiders-Mack saga will be an interesting storyline to follow as the preseason wears on.
