The first official pre-season game for the Carolina Panthers has wrapped up with a 28-23 win over the Bills. Here are three things that stood out — one took place before kick-off

Week 1 of the NFL preseason isn’t the most exciting but there were a few things we thought needed to be discussed. Here are three takeaways from the Carolina Panthers bout against the Buffalo Bills.

For the Panthers, there were some unresolved issues between Cam Newton and Kelvin Benjamin. Christian McCaffrey proved why he’s too explosive to be contained and Shaq Thompson could be headed to a Pro Bowl.

Bad Blood between former teammates

Former Carolina Panther DT Star Lotulelei was welcomed with open arms by Luke Kuechly. On the other side of the ball, Cam Newton made it his business to confront his former receiver, Kelvin Benjamin.

For those who haven’t heard, Benjamin didn’t hold back in his public criticism of his former teammate. Charlotte NBC News anchor Nick Carboni posted Benjamin’s ripping of Newton on Twitter.

When game time rolled around there was a warranted suspicion that something would go down, and it did. During pre-game routines, Cam approached Benjamin. Pictures say a thousand words but a camera tells truth — there was bad blood between the two former teammates.
