The Washington Redskins face the New England Patriots on Thursday, Aug. 9 in Week 1 of the 2018 NFL preseason. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
It’s now been months since the New England Patriots were unable to beat a backup quarterback in the Super Bowl. Surely no one has allowed any fan of New England to forget that fact since it happened, and for good reason. However, the Pats themselves will try to do just that and to get back to the Big Game once again. That journey back to playing in February starts with a matchup against the Washington Redskins on Thursday night.
Though we’ve become accustomed to things happening the same every year with the Patriots, there is some turnover this year for this team. No, we won’t see anyone different than Tom Brady and Bill Bellichick leading the way for this team. However, there are new faces at wide receiver and running back and new faces littered throughout the defensive side of the ball.
As for the Redskins, there’s plenty that they have going on differently then in recent years. After finally deciding not to commit to Kirk Cousins, they made a big move to trade for Alex Smith. With a new quarterback in addition to adding a guy like Derrius Guice, this is a team that could be a sleeper in the NFC this season. Of course, we’ll get a look at how real that hype is against a team like the Pats.

Even with the new pieces for both teams, there’s only so much that we’re going to learn about the Patriots and the Redskins in this game. After all, it’s Week 1 of the preseason, which means we won’t see too much of the big names. Even still, we’ll get glimpses, which is more than we have been getting to this point.
