Kyle Fuller has an impressive interception

Kyle Fuller did an incredible job of changing the conversation about him. After the 2016 season, he was basically labeled a quitter. He went in for a scope on his knee in preseason and ended up missing the entire season, even after getting cleared to play late in the season. Coaches and fans alike grew frustrated with Fuller.

More from Chicago Bears

Coming into 2017, the Bears had Fuller as the third cornerback. However, an injury to Prince Amukamara gave him a chance to play more. Furthermore, Marcus Cooper started to struggle. Fuller took advantage of that chance and had a very good season. As a result, the Bears matched the Green Bay Packers’ 4-year, $56 million offer.

As with most of the other starters, Fuller didn’t play much. He had an impact, though. In the first quarter, with the Bengals up 7-0, he intercepted an Andy Dalton pass. The actual catch wasn’t difficult, as the receiver fell down, but Fuller went 47 yards, zig-zagging and keeping his balance enough to find the end zone.

This is what the Bears expect from Fuller. While the defense ranked in the top-10, it struggled to force turnovers. Their eight interceptions were a franchise low. Seeing Fuller get an interception and get into the end zone is encouraging. Hopefully, it’s a sign of good things to come in 2018.
