The first preseason game is in the books for the Dallas Cowboys, where some things were learned about players who are batting for roster spots for the 2018 season.
With the completion of the first preseason game, the Dallas Cowboys have just three more dress rehearsals ahead of them before the regular season begins. By the looks of how things went on Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium, there were some surprises and solid play by some of the reserve players on the roster, who got ample playing time in the preseason opener.
One of those players was Cooper Rush, as he works his way into trying to keep his backup role secure for the 2018 season. If any quarterback on the Cowboys roster knows about battling for a top backup role during the preseason on the Cowboys’ roster, it is Rush, as he did the same thing last season.
Another player who is working his way for a roster spot was Bo Scarbrough, making his NFL preseason debut last night by rushing the football throughout the first and second half. There is also the play of Michael Gallup, as the rookie wide receiver caught a nice touchdown pass off broken coverage by the 49ers’ defense for an easy six points on a bomb to the end zone.
