The Atlanta Falcons face the New York Jets on Friday, Aug. 10 in Week 1 of the 2018 NFL preseason. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

The Atlanta Falcons were just minutes away from winning the Super Bowl two years ago. That seems like a distant memory now, of course, following their collapse in that game against the Patriots and then a lackluster follow-up season where they made the playoffs, but weren’t really in the title picture. Of course, their opponents in Week 1 of the 2018 NFL preseason, the New York Jets, would like give a limb to be in that position.

Jets fans are hoping that’s about to change, however, largely because of what they’ve done at the quarterback position. After making a big trade up in the draft during the offseason, they lucked out as Sam Darnold out of USC fell to them with the third-overall selection in the draft. Now he’ll be tasked with leading this franchise out of the gutter of the league, and his first taste of NFL action will be on Friday evening.

As for the Falcons, there really isn’t much that has changed with this team. Any real drama with Julio Jones was pretty much avoided this offseason. What’s more, the team was also able to lock up quarterback Matt Ryan to a rich long-term deal that will ultimately secure his and their future. Atlanta, in truth, simply needs to perform better and more soundly, which may put the biggest spotlight on offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian as he heads into his second season at the position.
