TE Vance McDonald, Pittsburgh Steelers

If you’ve followed the Steelers training camp or followed the team this offseason you know they want to get the ball to McDonald this season. He will surpass Jesse James on the depth as the clear-cut starting tight end and I anticipate him being almost an every-down player as long as he can stay healthy. While health is a concern that’s the case for almost every NFL tight end.

Currently, he’s being drafted as the TE26. I have no reason to believe he can’t finish as a TE1. Is it really farfetched to believe he could outperform guys like Trey Burton and George Kittle who are both being drafted in the top 11. If you are someone like myself who usually prefers to wait on tight ends and grab two with upside late, this is the guy to grab.

He has flashed talent throughout his career and at times shown his Fantasy relevance. This will be the first opportunity he gets to showcase his skills as the top guy right out of the gate. This coaching staff is going to give him every opportunity to excel and I think he should be able to.

His volume may not be tremendous, but he’ll make plays, get his and score some touchdowns. Draft him as a low-end TE2 and hope he hits his ceiling as low-end TE1.
