Minnesota Vikings: 3 Players who probably earned roster spots vs. Broncos
The Minnesota Vikings secured their first preseason win of 2018 against the Denver Broncos, and these three players made their cases for the 53-man roster in the process.
It’s official. Football is back and the Minnesota Vikings already have a notch in the win column. Although it was only a preseason victory against the Denver Broncos, it still feels good — especially after the way the team’s 2017 campaign ended.
We won’t bring up the past, though. Instead, let’s focus on the future, which appears very bright at this point in time. Saturday’s preseason showdown gave us plenty to be excited about, from the beautiful connection Kirk Cousins and Stefon Diggs are sharing to the stout showing from the Minnesota defense.
However, that’s not why we’re here today. No, we’re here to discuss a few of the younger players who saw their stock soar on Saturday night. None of them were guaranteed a roster spot coming into training camp, and at least two still have a ways to go. With that said, they’re all much closer to securing their spot on the 53-man depth chart after that big win.
Now that’s not to say these were the only players who truly stood out. It was a tremendous all-around effort from the Vikings, who started hot, cooled down, and then put the pedal to the metal at the end to seal the deal. A lot of great performances were had along the way, allowing me the opportunity to curate this list.
So without further ado, let’s take a gander at three Vikings who probably earned themselves roster spots against the Broncos. Anything can happen at this point, but what they’ve shown through the early going has probably calmed their nerves at least a bit.
