NFL 2018: 10 Rookie sleepers primed to shine
6. Dorance Armstrong, DE, Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys are still looking for a defensive end to take some pressure off DeMarcus Lawrence. Randy Gregory hasn’t been able to stay on the field due to suspensions and Taco Charlton underachieved as a rookie.
Armstrong has to climb up the depth chart, but he should get playing time early. The Cowboys need to get to the quarterback and Armstrong can help them do that. His athleticism is underrated because of his 4.8-second time in the 40-yard dash, but he has the initial quickness and enough speed to get around the edge. While he won’t put up gaudy sack totals, he can still contribute well.
5. Nyheim Hines, RB, Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts selected NC State’s speedy running back, Nyheim Hines, in hopes to add more electricity to their offense. With a healthy Andrew Luck returning, the Colts will need a player like Hines who can work in space. Hines’ speed and quickness was on full display for everyone to see at the Combine where clocked a 4.38-second 40.
There’s no doubt that his 40 run and his ability to catch passes made him a fourth-round pick. The Colts have a solid running back in Marlon Mack that can carry the bulk of the rushing load, but Hines’ excellent speed and agility makes him valuable as a return man and receiver.
