Week 1 of the 2018 preseason is in the books. What should we look out for from the New York Jets in Week 2 against the Washington Redskins?

After a great game all around in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons, the New York Jets will travel to Lanodover, MA to take on the Washington Redskins. First, though, they have a joint practice with their Week 2 opponents.

Week 1 saw great play from all three Jets quarterbacks, an all-around great game from the defense, and a much improved offensive line. The line even showed athleticism they didn’t show in 2017.

Another person who didn’t hide his stripes was offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates. He revealed some things — like the tight end usage and the zone runs. From an entire team perspective it was a good day for the Jets.

What should we look for in Week 2? Let’s examine.

3. Can the offensive line shed the label?

Going into the season, many Jets fans could probably hear Anne Robinson at Jets camp saying, “You are the weakest link. Goodbye,” to the Jets offensive line. However, in Week 1, they showed they were much stronger than last season, and Bates employed them in a different way. They got to show things we didn’t expect, and as a result maybe it was a function of how they were used last season as opposed to just their lack of talent or injuries that exposed them.

In the end, their ability was shown, and it might be more of strength than people though coming into the 2018 season. It’s hard to completely shed a label of being weak in the preseason, but they could be well on their way if they have another strong showing against the Redskins.
