New York Jets: JetUp Bleeding Green Podcast, Should Sam Darnold start?
Fights and a rookie quarterback performing well were the main topics at the joint practice between the New York Jets and Washington Redskins this week. What can we make of all of it though?
The New York Jets and Washington Redskins held joint practices in Richmond, VA this week. On the first on there was a melee, and then the story shifted to Sam Darnold.
He got a majority of the first team reps against the Redskins, and he even impressed some Redskins players, including Josh Norman.
According to ESPN’s John Keim, Norman had this to say about Darnold:
"“Someone asked me about him the other day, and I was like, yeah, whatever, he’s just a guy,” Norman said. “Then you go out here and see him making these throws and you’re like, all right. That’s not so much a college-level throw. He’s putting them on the money.”"
In this week’s episode of the JetUp Bleeding Green Podcast, Alan Schechter and Michael Pallas will discuss the status of Darnold and how much playing time he should get in the Week 2 preseason matchup with the Redskins. They will also talk about the fight.
Another rookie shined in the first preseason game — Nathan Shepherd. The guys will talk about his performance and whether or not he can help take the load off of Leonard Williams and maybe provide a second threat on that defensive line.
