Here are surprise impact players from each team looking to remain hot in Week 2 of the 2018 NFL preseason.

Football fans finally got a taste of being closer to September after the first week of NFL preseason action for 2018 officially got under way last week, and there was certainly plenty of big topics worth discussing. Whether it was key players like Derrius Guice (ACL) suffering major injuries or teams like the Los Angeles Rams failing to show up, the first weekend of preseason left fans with plenty to consider heading into Week 2, including which surprise players will be looking to continue making a serious impact.

As frustrating as this year can be to some since the argument can be made the preseason drags on for too long, keep in mind these are the games some players use to make a case for themselves to earn a roster spot. In fact, one of the most exciting factors from the four weeks of preseason is seeing those unexpected players rise up out of nowhere with a big game, whether it happens to be on the offensive or defensive side of the football.

Take Shelton Gibson of the Philadelphia Eagles for instance, who hopes to make a strong enough case at receiver to convince the Super Bowl champions he’s worth keeping around for the 2018 season to provide more depth at the position. Gibson still has plenty of work to do over these final three weeks since the Eagles have plenty of players competing for that No. 5 spot at receiver, but at least seeing the former West Virginia star catch a 63-yard touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers last Thursday gives him an early advantage.

Hopefully, Gibson’s surprise impact in Week 1 for Philadelphia was just the beginning of what could be a strong preseason for the wideout. Along with Gibson, here are the top players from each team that made surprise impacts during the first week of preseason that will be looking to carry that momentum over into Week 2 to help an even stronger case for a roster spot when the time comes.
