Khalil Mack: 5 Logical trade destinations if he’s dealt in 2018

There is talk that the Oakland Raiders could trade Khalil Mack rather than sign him to a new contract, but where are the logical trade destinations for him?

Few players in the NFL have the impact that current Oakland Raiders edge rusher Khalil Mack does. Virtually on a play-to-play basis, the Buffalo product is getting into or around the tackle he’s matched up with and putting pressure on opposing offenses. He harasses quarterbacks, brings down running backs in the backfields and general makes the life of an NFL offensive coordinator seem quite awful to live.

However, you’ll note the word “current” in that opening sentence. That’s critical as we’re in the middle of the 2018 preseason, because that could seemingly change at this point. As crazy as it may seem for one of the best players in the league to change teams, that seems to be on the table with Mack and the Raiders right now.

The skinny of it is that Mack is entering the final season on his rookie contract after Oakland picked up his option. Now, after he’s already proven to be an elite player at his position, he wants a new contract to secure his future. For whatever reason, the Raiders seem to be in a position where they’re reluctant to make that happen. With no deal in mid-August, the Khalil Mack trade rumors are starting to flow.

Every team in the NFL would love to have Mack on their roster. He’s a game-changing defender for any defense that he takes the field with. However, there’s a lot that goes into potentially pulling off such a blockbuster trade, from fit on the roster to capital that’s enticing in a trade to being in a position to make such a move.
