The Washington Redskins host the New York Jets in Week 2 of preseason action on Thursday night.

The Washington Redskins lost their preseason opener last week, 26-17, to the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, Washington lost, even more, when dynamic rookie running back, Derrius Guice, went down with a knee injury that was later determined to be a season-ending ACL tear.

In the preseason opener, the Redskins sat several starters, including quarterback Alex Smith, offensive tackles Trent Williams and Morgan Moses and running back Chris Thompson. Still, the Washington offense managed to carve out a 17-0 lead late into the second quarter with Colt McCoy under center and a host of young playmakers around him.

Smith is expected to start on Thursday, however, his stay will likely be brief. It’s doubtful the Redskins will play Williams, Thompson or tight end Jordan Reed.

This is the preseason home opener for Washington as it broke camp down in Richmond earlier this week after a few days of joint practice with Thursday’s opponent, the New York Jets. After a rocky start to the week on Sunday when the two teams got into multiple fights, things settled down and they were able to get some valuable practice sessions in.

Here are three things to watch in Washington’s preseason tilt against the Jets.
