Basement Dwellers: Buffalo Bills

As much as my heart wants to put the Jets in last place in the AFC East, the Bills are clearly the worst team in this division. First off, let’s be honest. It doesn’t really matter who finishes last in this division because no one is even competitive with the New England Patriots. There is definitely a case to make that the Jets or Dolphins could finish up last in this division, but none are nearly as strong as the case for Buffalo.

It was fun for the Bills last year to finally be the last team to make the playoffs this millennium, but now it’s back to the basement for them. This could and probably should be the worst offense in the NFL. It started in the 2018 NFL Draft when this team became the victims of Carson Wentz. What that means is they saw a big, strong-armed Wyoming quarterback in Josh Allen and saw Wentz. They projected Wentz onto Allen, and Allen just isn’t Wentz. As a matter of fact, it’s fairly clear he is the worst prospect drafted in the first round this offseason, a mistake that will surely set them back at least a few years.

A.J. McCarron will likely be the starter, which is not at all exciting and we’ve already seen the greatness of Nate Peterman on display as he started one half last season, completing six passes and throwing five interceptions. The miserable receiving corps surely won’t help which ever lackluster quarterback they jog out under center.

To make matter much worse, there is a very strong chance their best and perhaps even their only good player in LeSean McCoy may miss a huge chunk of the season. This all spells disaster for the Bills.
